From old-school to contemporary, here are my first round of picks. (I’ll share more next week.)

5. Audrey Hepburn’s Ski Look in Charade (1963)

I don’t think an open-face balaclava has ever looked so chic.

4. The Gym Attire in Clueless (1995)

Color-coordinating outfits is a whole ‘nother level of coming to class prepared.

3. Diana Ross’ 40s-Inspired White Dress in Lady Sings the Blues (1972)

Quintessential songstress silhouette.

2. Maggie Cheung’s Partly Sheer Red Cheongsam in In the Mood for Love (2000)

Say no to cheating on your husband…but yes to undoing the top buttons of your cheongsam. :)

1. That Sequins-Dripping Dress in Trouble in Paradise (1932)

As there are no promotional photos of Kay Francis wearing this gown, a screenshot will have to do (but it doesn’t do it justice). Look at that strap/sleeve detail. *chef’s kiss

Then she goes and kills ‘em with a view from the back. Superb.
